Safety Shear Valves

Mascott Pacific NW, US

Overview

Mascott recommends station operators have their service provider to check dispenser safety Shear Valves at least annually.  According to Fire Code,  shear valves must be installed on each product line under your dispenser. Other names for Shear Valves include Impact valves or fire valves. The purpose of the shear valve is it shuts off product flow from the fuel tank. Should your dispenser be knocked over, a shear valve limits the threat of fire or explosion.

Make sure the valve opens and closes easily, the fusible fire link is intact and properly installed. Secure the valve to the mounting brackets. Shear valves are important safety equipment for your fuel station.

Contact the Mascott service group if you have any questions or would like to schedule a safety inspection for your station.
