Summer is here and families all over the country are packing their bags and preparing to hit America’s highways for summer vacation.

As the owner of a convenience store or gas station, this time of year presents a unique opportunity to boost business significantly. However, your success isn’t guaranteed. With so much competition, you have to be willing to go above and beyond in order to stand out. Fortunately, this isn’t very difficult. Here are three simple suggestions that can help you lead the pack.

Replace all exterior lighting. A well-lit gas station is a welcoming gas station. Road-weary travelers want to be able to pull over at an establishment that feels safe and inviting. Missing lightbulbs and faulty electronic displays can leave the wrong impression. Set aside half-an-hour and inspect all of your exterior lighting including those above your fuel pumps, in the bathrooms and near firewood or propane displays.

Keep things clean and tidy. How often do you clean-up? If you’re used to letting sticky floors and overflowing trash bins fly, don’t expect to get much repeat business. If you want to make a lasting impression, keep everything tidy and free of clutter. This applies to your food displays, refrigerators, bathrooms and fueling areas.

Offer healthy snacking options. Americans are becoming more and more health conscious. Why not provide them with the snacking options they crave? Fresh fruits, vegetables and snack packs that are rich in protein can make a never-ending road trip seem much more manageable.

By keeping these things in mind all summer long, your business is sure to benefit. What’s your favorite tip for summer service? Visit our Facebook page and let us know!
